What is Google Ads competitor analysis?

Seeing who pays to show up on Google for the searches you care about, and what their ads say.

Above the normal results, Google shows ads from companies that pay for the click. For any search, you can be up against several of them.

This shows you who they are, across all your searches at once, what each one’s ads say, and roughly what they spend.

How it works

  1. Name a search or a rival

The searches you care about, your own website, or a competitor's. Pick the country, because who pays to show up in the US and the UK is rarely the same.

  2. It reads the ads

EverAsk looks at the ads Google shows for each search: who paid for them, what they say, and roughly what a click costs.

  3. Get the sheet

One row per company, with how many of your searches it pays for, its headlines, and its spend, always marked as an estimate.

About the numbers

Who shows up, and what their ads say, is what Google showed. Clicks and spend are estimates, worked out from how often each search happens and what a click costs. Use them to compare rivals, not as anyone’s real budget.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see which competitors bid on my keywords?

Inside Google Ads, the Auction Insights report only covers searches you already pay for. EverAsk covers any search, and lists every company that showed up with an ad, and what the ad said.

Can I see a competitor's exact Google Ads spend?

No tool can, because spend lives in their own account. The sheet gives an estimate, worked out from how often each search happens and what a click costs. It's good for comparing rivals, not for an exact budget.

Where does the Google Ads data come from?

From DataForSEO, which collects Google's ads and search data. The ads are what Google actually showed; search counts, click costs and spend are estimates.

Is this the same as Google Ads Auction Insights?

No. Auction Insights only covers searches you already pay for, inside your own account. This works for any search or company, before you spend anything, and shows the competitors' ads too.

Can I check who shows up on my brand name?

Yes. Search your company's name and the sheet lists every other company that paid to show up for it, with the ad they ran.
