What is an Instagram engagement rate?
The share of an account’s followers who like or comment on a post.
Followers can be bought, and plenty of them never look at a post. The engagement rate shows how many people actually care.
It’s the number brands check before paying a creator, and the one to watch for your own account.
How it works
Name the account
Any public Instagram handle, or a list of them. Say how many recent posts to read: 12 is a fair sample, 30 smooths out one lucky reel.
It reads the posts
EverAsk gets the follower count, and the likes and comments on each post, then works out each post's rate: likes plus comments, divided by followers.

Frequently asked questions
How is Instagram engagement rate calculated?
The usual way: likes plus comments on a post, divided by the account's followers, times 100. Average it over the last 12 to 30 posts for a steady number. Some tools divide by how many people saw the post instead, which only the account's owner can see.
What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?
It depends on size and niche. Smaller accounts usually get higher rates than big ones, and 1% to 5% is common for most brands. Compare with accounts your size in your niche, not one rule for everyone.
Can I check someone else's engagement rate?
Yes, for any public account. Likes, comments and followers are public, so the rate can be worked out without logging in. Private accounts can't be checked.
How do you spot fake followers or bought likes?
Look for a big jump in followers with no rise in likes, a rate far below accounts the same size, or posts with thousands of likes and almost no comments. EverAsk looks for each of these and shows the numbers behind it.
What if an account hides its like counts?
Hidden likes can't be read, so those posts are marked and the rate is worked out from comments only, and labelled that way. You get a lower number, not a made-up one.
