What is a Google Maps scraper?

A tool that copies the businesses Google Maps shows for a search into a spreadsheet.

Search “plumbers in Leeds” on Google Maps and you get pins, one at a time. To call them, you’d copy each name, phone number and website by hand.

A scraper does the copying for you: every business, one row each, with its phone, website, rating and number of reviews.

How it works

  1. Name the search

What kind of business, and where: a city, a few postcodes, or a distance around an address. Add filters if you like, such as only places with no website.

  2. It searches area by area

EverAsk searches Google Maps one small area at a time, so nothing is cut off, and merges businesses that show up twice.

  3. Get the sheet

One row per business: name, address, phone, website, rating and reviews. Sort it, filter it, or download it.

Searching Google Maps yourself

Stops at about 120 places.

Scroll to the end of a search for “HVAC in Phoenix” and the list runs out, even though the metro has more.

So EverAsk searches each area on its own, then puts the lists together.

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal to scrape Google Maps?

EverAsk reads public business listings through DataForSEO, a search data service, instead of crawling Google's pages or using your account. It sees the same information any visitor sees. How you contact the businesses afterwards still has to follow your local marketing rules.

Can I get email addresses from Google Maps?

No. Google Maps listings don't include email addresses, and the sheet never guesses one. You get the phone number and website each business lists, which is usually where its contact details are.

What does the sheet include?

Business name, type, address, phone, website, star rating, number of reviews, opening hours and the Maps link, one row per business. You can leave out the columns you don't need.

How many businesses can I get from one search?

As many as the area has. A small town might have forty and a large city several thousand, because the search covers the area piece by piece instead of stopping at about 120.

Can I download the list?

Yes. Download it as a spreadsheet or CSV file. Phone numbers keep their format and ratings stay numbers, so it imports cleanly into your sales tools.
