Amazon review checker

Paste an Amazon link. See which reviews look odd, and the rating without them.

What is an Amazon review checker?

A second look at a product’s reviews, before you trust its star rating.

Some star ratings are pushed up by paid or copied reviews, or by reviews of a different product. From the page alone you can’t tell.

A review checker reads all the reviews, points out the ones that look odd, and shows you the rating without them.

How it works

  1. Paste the link

Any Amazon product link. EverAsk reads all of its public reviews and tells you how many it read.

  2. It looks for warning signs

Reviews bunched into a few days, the same words from many reviewers, and reviews of a different product.

  3. Read the answer

A short report: the rating from the reviews that hold up, what looked odd, and the reviews behind each sign.

What it looks for

  • Lots of reviews in one week

Far more reviews than usual, bunched into a few days.

    • ★★★★★

      Best purifier ever, works great!

    • ★★★★★

Best purifier, works great, love it

    • ★★★★★

Works great! Best purifier I own

The same words, again and again

Many reviewers praise it in almost the same words.

  • Pulsewave Air 3 earbuds

    ★★★★★ 1,412 reviews

    ★★★★★Review of the Air 2

Great sound for the price, and the case still clicks shut after a year.

    Reviews of a different product

Reviews of an older model, shown on the new one’s page.

Each sign is a reason to look closer, not proof. A launch sale can bring a rush of reviews too.

Frequently asked questions

How do you check if Amazon reviews are fake?

Look at all the reviews together, not one at a time. Warning signs are many reviews in a few days, the same words from different people, lots of reviews from people Amazon can’t confirm bought it, and reviews of a different product. The checker looks for each one and shows the reviews behind it.

Can a review checker prove a review is fake?

No. It finds patterns that are common in paid reviews, but each one can have an innocent cause, like a launch sale or a product going viral. Treat the answer as a reason to look closer, not a ruling.

What does “the rating from reviews that hold up” mean?

It is the star rating worked out again using only the reviews that showed no warning signs. A big gap between that and the rating on Amazon means the odd reviews are doing a lot of the work.

How many reviews does it read?

All the reviews the listing shows publicly. The report says how many and from which dates. When there are only a few, it says there are too few to judge.

Does it work on Amazon outside the US?

Yes. It reads the Amazon site in the link you paste, so a .co.uk or .de link is checked against its own reviews, in their own language.

Is the Amazon review checker free?

You can run checks on the free plan. Paid plans give you more checks a month and saved reports you can run again when new reviews come in.
