Reddit sentiment analysis

Name a brand or a change. Get what Reddit thinks, with the threads to prove it.

What is Reddit sentiment analysis?

Reading what people on Reddit say about something, and counting how many are happy, unhappy or neither.

Reddit is where people say what they really think of a product, a price or a launch. The trouble is volume: a single change can start hundreds of threads.

Here you name the subject and get a short report: how the mood splits, what drives it, the comments people agreed with most, and links to every thread.

How it works

  1. Name the subject

A brand, a product, a launch or a price change, with a date range. Name subreddits to focus on, or let it find where the conversation is.

  2. It reads the threads

EverAsk reads the public posts and comments, marks each comment as positive, neutral or negative, and groups them by what they are about.

  3. Get the report

How the mood splits, what people are talking about most, the comments with the most upvotes and what would change minds, with links to every thread.

Lumora just ended the free tier. It’s $9 a month now.

I'd pay $6. I won't pay $9 for the app I had free last week.

Love this for us. Three years of my data and now it's behind a paywall.

    Negative

Sarcasm, so it counts as negative

At $9 it costs more than YNAB for the same job.

Is there a monthly plan, or only yearly?

    Neutral

    No monthly plan

Still worth it for me. Bank sync alone saves me an hour a month.

    Positive

    Worth the price

Every comment is scored once, read with the thread around it. Across 214 threads they add up to the split, and the topics become the themes in the report.

What you get

You ask: “What does Reddit think of the new Lumora pricing?”

Mostly negative, but not about the price. People are upset the free plan is gone.

58% of 3,860 comments are negative, and 41% of those are about losing the free tier. The report ends with what would win people back, drawn from the comments of those who stayed.

Who it’s for

  • The fix bought it back
Negative comments halved in two days

    Product and pricing teams

Read the reaction to a price change or a removed feature within days, and find out which part of the change people actually object to.

  • One fix to make
Ear cushions, 38 threads from runners

    Brand teams after a launch

What owners praise, what they send it back for, and where opinion is turning, while there is still time to respond.

  • A gap to fill
Neither leader is trusted on returns

    Founders sizing up a market

What Reddit says about the leaders before you build, and the complaint nobody has answered yet.

Frequently asked questions

How does Reddit sentiment analysis work?

It collects the public posts and comments about a subject, reads each comment with its thread, and marks it positive, neutral or negative. Then it counts them up and groups them by topic, so you can see what drives the mood.

Can it handle sarcasm?

Better than keyword counting. Each comment is read with its thread, so a sarcastic 'love this for us' under a price rise is scored as negative.

Which subreddits does it read?

Any public subreddit where the subject comes up. You can name the ones that matter, or let it find them, and the report lists every subreddit and thread count it used.

How far back can it go?

Choose the date range in the prompt: the week after a launch, a quarter, or a year for market research. Longer ranges read more threads and take longer.

Is the data public?

Yes. Only public posts and comments are read. Usernames appear only where a public comment is quoted, with a link to the thread it came from.
